Mandated by the Gender policy, gender is cut across all our interventions. The policy is being implemented at three levels namely individual, organizational and at community level. Given that our working area is a male dominant society, Saibaan gives due consideration to women empowerment and emphasis is laid upon involving them in all activities carried out in their villages. The village women are organized in village organizations and now they have become part of all decisions that affect their lives. Now they are not mere recipients of the benefits being offered to them. Instead they are active players in all the development process. Besides designing, planning and implementation of several activities on their own, these women village organizations, on their credit, have reconstruction of Women Friendly Halls in their villages- a place where they can get together, share, reflect and plan for the way forward. |
